We've been working with our supplier to figure out what happened. It appears that the TPU material used in the toe strap parts (same grade as used by Burton, Ride and others) was not processed correctly in one of their batches. When heated and cooled too quickly the plastic ends up more brittle than it should be. Unfortunately, you can't tell the difference between them by appearance, and it really only seems to be a problem below a certain temperature. The only way that we've found to tell the difference is to cool them with dry ice (which is -109 F, -78.5C) and then bend them. The properly processed ones can be bent back 180 degrees on themselves without breaking, while the brittle ones crack. If you happen to live somewhere cold you might leave your bindings out over night and then test the toe strap parts when they're at their coldest (when you know you're not going to be out for a few days). We've started distributing spares to dealers that ask for them, or you can contact us (sales@sparkrandd.com, 406.580.7674) and we'll put some in the mail for you. I sincerely apologize for this issue, and we'll do our best to make sure you stay in action.
